This coming weekend is the March ArtWalk in the Village of the Arts (FRI 6-9:30pm and SAT 11-4pm). On Saturday the Village will be participating in ArtSlam, a day of interactive art, with our theme of PUPPET POWER. At 2pm there will be a parade through the Village featuring giant puppet heads. There will be many FREE PUPPET MAKING STATIONS throughout the Village. I will have TWO PUPPET STAGES set up in front of the former BONNI BAKES BAKERY/CAFE building at 930 12th St W.
For the littlest munchkins, these 3 panels from a child's playhouse will be attached and form a PUPPET STAGE where they can open the shutters and perform with their puppets. Thanks to Mark Piers, who provided & painted the panels. It's wonderful living in an art colony with so many talented people who believe that "it takes a Village", and are willing to help. In addition,
I'm creating a larger PUPPET THEATER that will allow several people to perform together. If you'd like to help me run the show on Sat from 12-4, please let me know. I certainly could use the help! More details about events that day, and the FREE TROLLEY to/from the Riverwalk, at www.villageofthearts.com
Because I'll be busy with the puppeteers on Saturday, I won't have time to bake bread for Sunday at the Palma Sola Farmers Market. So this week's bread (Minorcan Multi-Grain) will only be available for Friday pick-up.
My lovely Keitt mango tree is full of blossoms. Frequently we get a wind storm around this time of year that blows them off and delays production. If young fruits form and hang in there, we could be enjoying those juicy sweet mangoes by early summer.
At long last I'm almost ready to pick the six enormous red peppers that grew on a single plant, and are finally ripe. I want to make something worthy out of them...have any suggestions?
When I had a hankering for a decadent dessert, I spread some of my Blueberry Lemon Jam over a plain slice. YUMMY! Hope to see you Saturday in the Village when you get your puppet on. Or Sunday at the farm, where the baby goats rule.
Here's what I'm making this week in my kitchen:
BLUEBERRY LEMON MUFFIN $2
THE BIG COOKIE $1.50
